"Our Capping Day
It is with fond memories that we will always remember Friday, December 18th, 1959. It was this day we received our caps. The ceremony commenced with the Hospital Administrator, Sister Mary Grace, officially welcoming us into the School of Nursling and giving us some words of encouragement and advice which will be thought of often during our three years of training. Holding our lighted candles we recited the Jeanne Mance pledge after which we proudly knelt and received the St. Joseph cap which was placed on our heads by Sister Mary Grace. Slowly we returned to our places. We reached our first goal and we pray with God's help, during the next three years we may become nurses that our hospital will be proud to call "Graduatesof St. Joseph's School of Nursing". - L. Balfe, Class of "62"."
