Indenture - January 6, 1882 - Between:-
Thomas Shirton of Township of Moulton, County of Haldimand , Farmer;
William Shirton of Gainsborough Township, Lincoln County, Farmer; and
Charles Shirton of said Gainsborough Township, Farmer, of the First Part:
Sophia Shirton wife of Thomas Shirton; Mary Jane Shirton wife of William Shirton and
Mary Ann Shirton wife of Charles Shirton, the wives of the said parties of the first part, of the Second Part:

Joshua Yeadon of Gainsborough Township, in Lincoln County, Stone Mason, of the Third Part.
For - $3,600.00 - 114 acres - composed of the West part of the East part of Lot # 1 in the First Concession of Gainsborough Township in Lincoln County together with the broken front in front of the same - commencing in the North limit of the said Lot # 1 at the centre of the East half of said Lot, thence South to what is called the base line. Thence West one chain. Thence South to a certain ravine near the said Adam Jones barn, thence on a southerly course down said ravine to the River Welland. Thence a Westerly and Northerly course following said River to lands deeded by said Adam Jones to the late Manuel Jones. Thence northerly and north along the east limit of said lands deeded to the said Manuel Jones to the North limit of said Lot # 1 in said First Concession. Thence East to the place of beginning.
Together with the appurtenances thereunto belonging or appertaining. To have and to hold the aforesaid lands and premises with All and singular the Appurtenances thereto belonging or appertaining unto and to the use of the said party of the Third Part his heirs and assigns for ever. Subject nevertheless to the reservations, limitations, provisoes and conditions expressed in the original Grant thereof from the Crown.
And the said Sophia Shirton, wife of Thomas Shirton; Mary Jane Shirton wife of William Shirton, and Mary Ann Shirton wife of Charles Shirton, wives of the said parties of the first part hereby bars their dower in the said lands.

Note:
DT=Dochstader Tract
CT=Clement Tract
Ind R=Indian Reserve
Unlike most Ontario townships, Canborough was privately
owned and does not conform to government surveyed lands.
There are no lot numbers smaller than 5 in the 1st Concession.
Concession 2 begins at Lot 6. The 3rd concession is highly
irregular and the lots run at right angles to the other two
concessions as well as the Dochstader and Indian Reserve
Tracts along the Grand River.
